Online bingo is quickly proving to be one of the most popular and engaging forms of entertainment available. From exciting rounds that offer cash rewards to simply a free game or two of interactive bingo, many portals are now enjoying massive followings. One unique aspect in regards to such sites is that some will also host real-time chat platforms. So, players can communicate with one another, exchange tips and in some cases, even make a friend or two. However, the lingo in these rooms can be a bit tricky to understand and it is a good idea to take a look at how to chat as well as some of the main phrases that will be encountered.

Brevity is the Soul of Wit

First, it is important to realise that most chatters will not have time to write out full sentences. This is not considered to be rude, but merely arises from the fact that they are likely involved in a game. So, it should be expected that sentences and even phrases will be formed with some rather unique abbreviations. It is actually best to avoid typing in full sentences, for it is unlikely that others will respond in the same way. Some may even take slight offence that longer sentences are taking up so much space.

Important Bingo Lingo

Of course, the terminology behind bingo has given rise to a host of game-related terms. Some of the most important to remember are:

  • "1tg", "2tg" (how many balls left until a bingo).
  • AFK (Away From Keyboard)
  • ?4U (Question For You)
  • FCOL (For Crying Out Loud)
  • B4N (Bye For Now)

Finally, the word "Bingo!" will naturally speak for itself during any game.

A Sense of Community

It should naturally be expected that much of the terminology used will be more in regards to communicating with others than solely in regards to the game itself. So, other common phrases such as "HIYA" (Hello Everyone), "WB" (Welcome Back) and "IMHO" (In My Honest Opinion) will also be regularly seen. There are also comprehensive tables that will display even more terms. Learning the basic lingo while participating in an online bingo chat room is ideal for making friends, having a few laughs and even learning some hot tips and tricks in reference to this fun and exciting game.
